International Women’s Day

INT-WDInternational Women’s Day is held every year on March 8, to celebrate women’s achievements throughout history and across nations. It is also known as the United Nations (UN) Day for Women’s Rights and International Peace. This year’s theme is “Make it Happen.”

On March 8, women around the world will speak at various events such as seminars, conferences, rallies, luncheons, dinners or breakfasts. Speakers  include political, community, and business leaders, as well as leading educators, inventors, entrepreneurs, and media personalities. The common message at all events is a focus on themes important to women such as innovation, the portrayal of women in the media, women as entrepreneurs or the importance of education and career opportunities for women worldwide. It’s also a time for women everywhere to celebrate their accomplishments and themselves.
